Rediscovering Andover high street

Andover Car Boot Sale May31st 2021

The first major event in Andover’s high street was a sunny success earlier today.

Around 20 traders including car ‘booters’ took part in the event which was organised by ‘InAndover’ from the Andover Business Improvement District.

Hundreds of people visited the high street area where they could relax and listen to live music from Andover Radio in the Timering who hosted Andover’s exceptional talent Maddison Douch plus bands from Andover College like ‘Holly and the Jive Turkeys’ and ‘Stock Baby’ who performed an excellent rendition of The Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ .

Locally brewed ale was on offer from the Andover Tap and ‘Storytime with Vicky’ provided interactive entertainment for children.

Event organiser Shelley Coburn told Andover Radio, “We have a lovely compact high street in Andover and it’s an ideal place to just pop-in and shop.

“We [InAndover] are all about encouraging people to come in and rediscover Andover and I feel people have really done that today.”

Local businesswoman Kelly Jones from Canto Gelato added, “It’s been manic, it’s great we’ve almost run our stock today. Great to see people enjoying themselves in the high street today”.

Local author Norman Townsend was also in the high street, promoting his latest book, ‘Lethal Response’, a follow-up to his successful first novel, ‘Trashed’.

The four hour event raised around £100 for local environmental charity Andover Trees United.
