“We set up many new systems and invested in training and tooling and stock ready to go for it. Becoming a Skoda retailer, you have to meet their minimum standards although we are already in the Volkswagen umbrella, we still have to adhere to Skoda standard that differ to Volkswagen slightly so there is a lot of adaptions for all the staff not just the technicians, the front of house people and how they deal with customer’s what their expectation is when they come into the dealership.”

The Martins Group has a rich history in Hampshire going back over 100 years. Robert Martin started his fly-cab business in Winchester more than 100 years ago.
These two-three passenger horse-drawn vehicles were the first step in the Martin family’s aim to offer Hampshire motorists a first-class service, from showroom through to an aftersales centre. They then moved to The Broadway in central Winchester around 1910 where they operated a motorcycle franchise and sold used cars. Not long after that, a car hire business was established.
During the 1960’s they ran Martins Self Drive, and then from the early 1970’s, they opened Chandler’s Ford Motors in School Lane, Chandler’s Ford. Their first Volkswagen dealership was opened in Andover in 1979.
Between 2005 and 2006 they introduced Nissan and Renault aftersales services in Andover.
Their dedication to providing excellent customer service at all times has been recognised with a number of honours over the years.
In 1990 and 1991 they were awarded the Volkswagen ‘Blue Riband Dealer of Excellence’ award and we are five-time winners of the Volkswagen ‘Gold Pin’ recognition award for exceptional individual contributions within our Volkswagen dealerships.
