Spooktacular event is the treat of the town

On Halloween a spooky event took place in the town centre that saw thousands of people brave the weather for a trick or treat around the town.

Organised by InAndover (Part of the Andover BID) and Andover Community Events the event was the brainchild of Andover Community Events founder Kevin Rush, who decided that an organised fun trick or treat event would offer more fun for children and that local businesses could get involved and benefit.

The High Street was packed full of stalls and Andover Radio was there providing the music and entertainment. Local businesses stayed open and was part of the trick or treat trail that included Afterlife Boutique, The Blue Cross, Boba World, Canto Gelato, Celebration Cube, Eye Candy Emporium, The Geek Emporium, Mooch, No78 Speciality Coffee and the Travelling Cupcake. Children would collect a map and visit the businesses to collect their sweets.

This provided a safe and organised way for children to maximise their fun trick or treating. After there was a spooky disco by Andover Radio’s Chris Burford with prizes for best dressed competition with prizes from Mooch and Afterlife Boutique. Over at the Andover Community Events tent was the pumpkin competition with some amazing designs.

Kevin Rush said “Our first Halloween event and I am blown away by the number of people that turned out in the rain. It was an idea I had last year after a very hit and miss trick or treating session, but the delivery of the event was very much in partnership with Super Shelley and the InAndover team and the awesome Ben and the Andover Radio team were like the cherry on the top with their spooky set up and groovy tunes.

Last night was another example of why I Love Andover and why we all do what we do. I am already buzzing for a repeat next year”.

Shelley Coburn the events coordinator for Andover BID/InAndover said “It was amazing, it was so much fun and so great to see the people enjoy it”.
