Detectives in Andover have released a CCTV image of men they would like to speak to in connection with a distraction theft at Tesco on River Way in Andover.

Shortly before 2.30pm on July 5, a 62-year-old man was shopping with his disabled wife at Tesco in River Way, Andover. When they returned to their car, the man was approached by an Eastern European man who asked for directions.

The man assisted with this request and then went home. When he got home he noticed that his wallet containing bank cards, was missing. It then transpired that his card had been used for a number of transactions amounting to more than £1,500.

Initial police enquiries have revealed that two men were watching the victim as he paid for his shopping in Tesco. They are then seen speaking to him in the car park.

PC Ben Lee said: “This is a horrible crime where vulnerable people are often targeted. It seems this man was distracted by one man, while the other stole his wallet.

“Do you know who these men are? If so, please contact me.”
