Police investigate town centre assault

Police investigating an assault that took place in Andover’s town centre shortly after 3:40am on Sunday 20 May.

A 29 year-old man was chased by two people from the area outside of  the Foresters Arms on London Street into the High Street and assaulted.

He was treated at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke for cuts to his head which were stapled and glued. The man is now recovering at home.

A second man, aged 23, who attempted to help the victim was also punched. He was not hurt.

We want to speak to two men about these assaults. They are described by the victims as:

  • White.
  • Aged in their twenties.
  • Both were clean shaven.
  • Both spoke with eastern-European accents.
  • One man was wearing a blue hooded top with a jacket over it, had short fair hair, and was between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall.
  • The second man was shorter than the first, was wearing a red hooded top with a jacket over it, and had short brown hair.
