Rail crash casualty numbers

SWR South Western Railway

Here at Love Andover we remain thankful that last night’s rail crash outside Salisbury did not cause fatalities.

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust have confirmed today that the derailment involving two trains around 6:46pm yesterday evening meant they treated 13 casualties at Salisbury District Hospital.

Only four casualties were admitted, with one discharged. Three remain as inpatients.

The hospital confirms that ‘all are in a stable condition’.

Stacey Hunter CEO at Salisbury Foundation Trust said, “I would like to thank all our colleagues who responded to this incident in a calm, professional and compassionate manner.  We are all relieved that the outcome of the accident hasn’t been more severe.”

Rail services from Andover will continue to be affected today. South Western Railway say customers should expect disruption of some kind until the end of Thursday (4th November 2021).
