GRANT FRANCIS: ‘On the Air’ and in the air

Grant Francis Morning Crew Andover Radio

Grant Francis is annoyingly talented.

A concert standard pianist, aviator and engineer, the former Portway Junior pupil will host the Morning Crew radio programme on 95.FM Andover Radio from 6:00am tomorrow.

The radio show features lots of information of use to people getting up, getting the kids to school and setting off for work.

Local and international news as well as local weather, sport and travel are just some of the features that Grant orchestrates for three hours each morning.

Famous for his frequent ‘Grant Rants’ where he’s happy to share anything that’s aggravating him that day from Amazon deliveries to ‘idiotic’ council decisions, on the programme, you will hear the voices of many people from around Andover.

David Wybrow is the voice of what’s on in Andover and Sarah Gisbourne gives updates on activities and events for families living in town.

Ahead of tomorrow’s programme Grant took to the skies above Andover in a Cessna C172S from Western Air at Thruxton to see the area to which he broadcasts.

Producing a five minute video where he shares his thoughts about the town, giving you chance to see Andover from the air, Grant also gives a little history about why Andover Radio exists and its place in providing social gain for people and organisations in the town.

From 1,500 feet above ground level Grant said, “Coming up here really brings everything into perspective, it shows how beautiful our countryside and Andover really is. It’s humbling. I can see the places I grew up and the places I used to play.

At a time when Andover is about to undergo some significant renovations to make it fit for the future, Grant added, “This town, my home, is a small Hampshire town with a big city attitude, but with the community feel of a village.

“Its gorgeous.”

Grant Francis is the host of the Morning Crew – weekday mornings between 6:00am and 9:00am on 95.9FM Andover Radio.
