In the blink of an eye December has gone and January is upon us, The month of hibernation before Imbolc on the 1st Feb, the day of Goddess Brigid and spring starts to arrive, (my favourite).
However let me not skip the beauty that yule held, very different in our house this year as we stepped away from stress and pressure and fell much more in alignment with how we wish to move forward and nurture our souls this year. Spending time with ourselves and in our own company, being, just being. We made decorations from wood, cinnamon sticks, pine cone and ribbon, the children decorated the tree, and more importantly we spent time, time with people we love that are in this realm and spirit.
I held a fire ceremony on the 21st to celebrate Yuletide and Winter Solstice, we used sage to cleanse auras, we welcomed the directions and we chanted, it was indeed very powerful. 11 women all in one place, being true to ourselves, not feeling fear or anxiety, doing what felt right and natural to us all, so after this I shall now hold one on every Pagan Sabbat, next one being Imbolc on the 1st Feb.
Then there was Solstice, marking the shortest day of the year. We got up and went to Combe Gibbet and witnessed a most beautiful sunrise and a most stunning scene in the clouds which I am going to describe as a portal to another dimension, no photo could do it justice, it was only to be seen by the eye. I read some scientific research suggesting what we saw was similar to a rainbow cloud but I have decided to believe what I saw was a portal. The colour, the shape of the clouds, my mind is still wondering now as I recall it, could that be a spirit world, could it have been a portal in time to shorten travel to a different universe? I’m sure I will be pondering what I witnessed for some time. If I had stayed longer would I have seen phoenix or dragons? The possibilities when you allow thought in are endless, allowing time to explore your thoughts, your imagination, your mind. Is it imagination, or is it something you already know and have hidden or pushed aside? Interesting right – I could quite happily explore this for hours, however I have some courses to write.
Full moon in January is a wolf moon and it is on the 25th, named after the howling of wolves and provides us with a great opportunity for deep reflection.
