One of the stars of the Andover Armed Forces Day tomorrow has arrived at the Vigo Road Recreation Ground.
The Apache AH-64 announced its arrival at 4:15pm today (Saturday 24th June) with two circles of the Vigo Road Recreation Ground in Andover before wowing the crowd with a perfect landing.
The hard work put in with planning and preparing for the event is now starting to show as the various structures go up.
The main stage is underway and will be the venue for the live acts including The Mighty Hump and Alex Krupa.
Local charity Veterans in Action are already on site and preparing for their bushcraft demonstrations whilst the Dorset 4th Comms Land Rover has its area marked out.
Also due for the event are the Watchkeeper drone, a fun fair, various food options in the catering section and concession stands from local and national businesses.
Tonight everything is under the watchful eye of Corsair Events, the Police and the Army.
The day starts tomorrow at 10:30am with the flag raising ceremony and goes through the day finishing at around 8:00pm.
Co-organiser David Harber said “We are really excited about tomorrow and looking forward to showing our armed forces how much we appreciate them. It’s been several months of hard work but looking around the park it is all coming together.”
There is free parking available at the Black Swan Yard and George Yard car parks just a few minutes walk away.
Because of heightened security visitors may be searched and are asked not to bring glass bottles or alcohol into the park.
