Test Valley Arts have partnered up with Test Valley Borough Council and Test Valley Borough of Culture to create a community film making project , creating a digital ‘time capsule’ of life in Test Valley. Rebecca Maddox, project co-ordinator is asking for as many people within the community to get involved to create a historical piece of work, that we can look back on in years to come.
What’s It All About?
The project is about creating a short film ‘time capsule’ which captures the people, places and stories of Test Valley Today.
The film will be made by ‘weaving together’ snippets of short films submitted by members of the public.
In 1983, the people of Test Valley made a time capsule tapestry with thread, capturing a moment in the borough’s history for future generations. Now, nearly 40 years later, we’re doing it again, but this time, instead of thread, we’re using video to create a ‘digital’ tapestry.
You’re Invited
You’re invited to make a 2-3 minute film about your life in Test Valley. It can be about almost anything. The things you care about, the people you care about. The places that have meaning for you. Anyone can make a film. No special equipment is needed, a smartphone will do.
How will we look back at our lives in Test Valley 2021? What will we remember and what was most significant. Films will be published on our website and the TV Capsule film will be published on You Tube.
Visit https://www.tvcapsule.co.uk for full details, inspiration and to watch our series of “how to” videos to help get you started.
Keep it simple and have fun
It doesn’t have to be a Hollywood production (although it could be!) Keep it simple and have fun.
There are only four things to remember, (without which we will not be able to include your film).
- Your film must be no longer than 3 minutes
- Submission must be via the web form
- We need to know you have the permission of everyone in the film – again, see the form
- The film must be suitable for people of all ages.
Rebecca Maddox, project co-ordinator at Test Valley Arts Foundation told Andover Radio 95.5fm “We really hope people of all ages across Test Valley will be inspired to have some fun with this project and have a go at making a short film. Now that the weather is improving and restrictions are easing it’s a great time to get out and about and show the things that make your neighbourhood special to you.”
The deadline to submit a film is 31st July 2021.
