A woman has been found guilty of manslaughter following the death of an 84-year-old Andover man.
40 year old Izabela Dauti of Bell Road in Andover was found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.
The court heard that paramedics found Malcolm Cox at Dauti’s address on the morning of Tuesday 15th November in 2016.
Mr Cox had a 6cm cut to the back of his head and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, where he died the following day.
The trial heard that Mr Cox had been injured some time before paramedics were called, meaning that he could not get the aid that he needed.
The jury found Dauti guilty of manslaughter following the three-week trial.
She was today jailed for four and a half years.
Detective Chief Inspector David Brown said, “It is clear that Dauti had been exploiting Mr Cox, an elderly vulnerable man, for some time, and she failed to give him the care he needed when he sustained his head injury.
“I hope this verdict provides some closure to those close to Mr Cox and the wider community.”
