18 Knives Surrendered During Police Engagement Event in Andover

Andover’s Neighbourhood Policing Team have thanked the public for their support following a successful community engagement event held at The Chantry Centre on Saturday (24 May) as part of the national Sceptre knife crime awareness week.

Officers spent the day speaking with local residents about knife crime, community safety, and other policing priorities in the area.

Knife Amnesty Bin Proves Effective

Following the event, police confirmed that 18 knives were safely surrendered as part of the ongoing knife amnesty initiative.

The amnesty bin, located at Andover Police Station, remains available during regular opening hours for anyone who wishes to safely and anonymously dispose of a knife.

A spokesperson for the team said:

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and speak with us. We had some excellent conversations around knife crime and other local issues. We’re pleased to confirm that 18 knives have now been removed from circulation, helping make our streets safer.”

Residents are reminded that no questions are asked when knives are surrendered during an amnesty, and disposing of a weapon this way is always a safer choice than risking prosecution or harm.
