More than 34,000 additional emergency dental slots have been commissioned across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to help patients who need urgent treatment – such as those in pain, suffering from infections, or requiring repairs to lost fillings or crowns.

Anyone in need of an urgent NHS dental appointment can access the service by using 111 online or by calling 111, where they will be directed to the most appropriate local practice.

James Roach, Director of Primary Care and Local Care at NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said:

“We’ve commissioned these additional urgent and emergency appointments to ensure patients can access care when they need it most. We would urge those who believe they need urgent dental care to call 111 or use 111 online.”

He added that routine NHS dental access is gradually improving, with the extra appointments helping to strengthen local provision.

Anushika Brogan, CEO and Founder of Damira Dental Studios, which operates practices across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said:

“We’re pleased to be supporting this drive to raise awareness. 111 online is the best place to start to check if you need an urgent appointment — they can then direct you to the right practice for your needs.”

For urgent care, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111.
