Andover New Street Youth FC Smashes Fundraising Record with Charity Shield Success

Andover New Street Youth FC has proudly announced that this year’s Jon Baxter Charity Shield & Family Fun Day was an overwhelming success – officially raising over £12,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, more than smashing last year’s impressive total of £6,838.

Held at Foxcotte Lane on Saturday 3rd May, the event saw hundreds from the local community turn out to support the cause, enjoy a packed day of football, family fun, and fundraising. The day was headlined by the return of Premier League legend Petr Čech, who drew large crowds as he once again took to the pitch for the now-iconic Vixens vs Foxes Charity Shield match. The Vixens went on to seal their third consecutive win with a convincing 4–1 victory.

A very special mention goes to the club’s U11s Youth team, who—under the brilliant leadership of Salvatore Vittozzi—sold a phenomenal number of raffle tickets, raising over £1,000 single-handedly. Their dedication and enthusiasm perfectly embodied the spirit of the day.

The fundraising team, led by the tireless Leigh-ann Austin, extended heartfelt thanks to every local business who generously sponsored the event, donated raffle prizes, or joined in with stalls, bouncy castles and activities. Their combined support played a vital role in the day’s success.

Huge gratitude also goes to the wider Andover New Street Football Club and its committee members, who continue to demonstrate that the club is more than just a team – it’s a family.

And the fun didn’t stop when the football ended! Evening entertainment from talented local singer Ellie George, followed by high-energy band Torn Off Strips, kept the crowd dancing well into the night.

With community, compassion, and camaraderie at its heart, this year’s Jon Baxter Charity Shield proved that when Andover comes together, incredible things happen.
