Gemini Netball Club has been proudly presented with a donation of £1,640 from the Jamie G Sporting Trust during their Bee Netball training session on 14th July.
The local charity, founded in memory of Jamie Gentleman, son of Jacqui Gentleman, works to bring sporting opportunities to young people across the community. Jacqui Gentleman and fellow committee member Louise Broe attended the big cheque presentation on behalf of the Trust, where they were warmly welcomed by the club.
The donation will be used to update equipment originally funded by a previous contribution from the Trust, ensuring that Gemini Netball Club can continue to provide high-quality training and opportunities for its members. The club has seen significant growth in recent years and now runs groups from Under 8s through to Under 16s, with teams competing in the prestigious Hampshire Junior Leagues, as well as the Andover League and Salisbury Junior Leagues.
Reflecting on the visit, Jacqui Gentleman said:
“I was impressed to see so many taking part and enjoying this sport. Having visited the club two years ago, it’s wonderful to see how it has grown – not just for fitness benefits but also for team spirit, interaction and making new friends. It’s so important to enjoy what you are doing, and this was confirmed to me whilst speaking with the youngsters. Watching them practice with joy was very pleasing. Organised sport is a fantastic activity for young people. It teaches self-discipline, cooperation and team spirit, and promotes sportsmanship.”
Some of the youngest players shared their love for the game. Libby, aged 8, said: “It’s so active and you get to make new friends.” Meanwhile, Isla, aged 9, added: “I love that we work as a team to get to our goal and I get to be with all my friends – everyone here is really kind.”
The club expressed its gratitude to the Jamie G Sporting Trust for its continued support, which has helped Gemini Netball provide a thriving, inclusive sporting environment for young people in the area.
