Andover New Street 1 – 0 Hamworthy Rec FC

From the first whistle, it was clear this was going to be a battle. Hamworthy proved tough opponents, but New Street rose to the challenge. The midfield worked tirelessly, with Carswell, Ashfield and Hine dictating the tempo and breaking up play in key areas, while the back line stood firm. The defence, supported by a commanding performance from the goalkeeper Bartram, ensured a clean sheet was never seriously in doubt.

The introduction of the club’s new signing Malachi Dotse up front injected fresh energy into the attack. His pace and direct play caused Hamworthy problems throughout the second half, stretching their defence and giving New Street an outlet going forward.

The breakthrough finally came in the 89th minute. A swift attacking move saw New Street’s persistence rewarded, as Herbert made the run, cutting in to assist Aleks Kokoszka make his mark with the decisive goal, sending the home support into celebration.

It was a disciplined, determined performance across the pitch, but Cam Thatcher deservedly took home Man of the Match honours for his influence and work rate, driving the team on when it mattered most.

A gritty win, a clean sheet, and three vital points – a performance that underlines New Street’s growing momentum.

Andover New Street remain at home in their next league match, welcoming Downton FC with a kick off at 3pm – gates open at 1:30pm. But this evening (Tuesday 19th August 2025) they’re back in action at home in the senior cup against Christchurch, kick off 7:45pm. All support is appreciated.
