Local-based charity Alabaré is calling on supporters to join the BIG Sleep at Stonehenge on Friday 14 November 2025, as demand for help from homeless veterans rises.

Places are limited to 200 and each participant is asked to raise at least £175. Alabaré says government figures indicate 1 in 400 former military personnel is classed as homeless, with an estimated 6,000 veterans needing urgent accommodation support. The charity has received 350+ referrals in the last year, a 122% increase on 2024, while rough sleeping in England has risen by 91% over three years.
The event, run with English Heritage, invites participants to experience one night outdoors at the iconic monument to raise funds for Homes for Veterans services across the South West of England and Wales, providing safe accommodation, mental health support and pathways to independence.
Where the money goes
- £25 – Welcome pack for a veteran entering supported housing
- £50 – One-to-one mental health support session
- £100 – A week of food and essentials
- £175 – A full week of supported accommodation and care
Alabaré says the BIG Sleep will be a history-making show of support for veterans in an area closely connected with the armed forces.
