Joined by five additional riders from other clubs who regularly train with Andover, the group flew out for a single-day training mission, giving them valuable time on the Copenhagen track. The trip was led by Club Chairman and Head Coach Eric Esslemont, better known trackside as CoachFixEE.

It was a long day by any standard – the team met at Heathrow Airport at 4am and returned home at 9pm, but the experience was described as “epic” by those involved. After arriving, the riders built their bikes at the airport and rode to and from the track, soaking in the Danish sun and the thrill of international riding.

Once at the venue, the squad enjoyed four hours on the track, learning the layout and features in preparation for racing there in just a few weeks’ time.

Coach Esslemont provided full support on the ground, ensuring the session was structured, focused and fun. By the end of the day, all ten riders returned home feeling confident and inspired.

The trip was made possible with the support of Merronbrook Ltd, who generously funded meals and transfer costs for the team. Local business A2B Cycles also provided mechanical support in the lead-up to the event.

Luther Hindley, the club’s Media and Communications Officer said:

“The day was an adventure from start to finish.

“Riding to the track, training under blue skies, building our bikes in the airport – it’s something we’ll all remember, and a huge step forward as we gear up for the World Championships.”

The Copenhagen visit is another example of Andover BMX Club’s growing presence on the national and international stage. The team now looks ahead to their next big challenge in Birmingham – the final rounds of the National Series – before heading back to Denmark with race plates on.
