Andover Mind are pleased to announce a new collaborative project with Valley Leisure, aimed at getting people to move more and feel better, promoting the physical and mental health benefits of regular physical activity within communities experiencing health inequalities.
This initiative highlights the importance of daily physical activity, which, according to research conducted by the NHS, has been scientifically proven to reduce the risk of depression by up to 30% and major illnesses by up to 50%.
Recognising that people facing health inequalities are often less likely to have access to physical activity and sports, this project seeks to bridge that gap. Through a variety of accessible and engaging physical activities, Andover Mind and Valley Leisure are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to enjoy the profound benefits of an active lifestyle.
This innovative project is supported by the Hampshire Active Health Programme, which provides one-off grants to organisations that encourage and facilitate physical activity in communities facing the most significant health inequalities. The Hampshire Active Health Programme is managed by Energise Me on behalf of Hampshire County Council, with funding from the Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) provided by the Department of Health and Social Care. This funding ensures that vital resources are directed towards initiatives that can make the greatest impact on public health and wellbeing.
