Andover Student Fundraising for Life-Changing Ecuador Expedition

A dedicated Andover student, Maddie, is raising £5,500 to take part in an expedition to Ecuador in the summer of 2026 with Camps International. The trip will see her working on vital community and environmental projects aimed at improving living conditions and protecting natural habitats.

Maddie describes the expedition as “an amazing opportunity to make a difference through fundraising and volunteering”. During her time in Ecuador, she will help build essential water supplies for villages, construct schools, and contribute to community initiatives that directly improve the lives of local people. “These experiences will not only allow me to help others but also give me the chance to develop new skills and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures,” she explains.

She is reaching out to the local community to support her mission. “This isn’t just a trip for me; it’s a chance to contribute to vital projects that will have a lasting impact on people’s lives. The funds will go directly towards the cause and resources for the work we’ll be doing,” she says.

To reach her fundraising target, Maddie is organising a variety of events, including raffles, bingo and karaoke nights, car boot sales, and car washes. She is also taking on sponsored hikes and selling clothes on Vinted to boost her total. “I want to get as many people involved as possible, so I’m also planning pub quizzes where people can have fun while supporting a great cause,” she adds.

Balancing her fundraising efforts with school and work has been a challenge, but Maddie is determined to succeed. She currently works at Zenith Fish Bar and is also an active member of the Andover Police Cadets. “Managing everything at once can be tough, but I’m learning a lot about time management and staying organised,” she says.

Maddie is appealing for support from individuals and businesses, whether through sponsorships, prize donations for raffles, or simply spreading the word. “I believe that together we can make a difference, and every contribution, big or small, will help me get closer to this goal,” she says.

The expedition will provide Maddie with an unforgettable experience, allowing her to contribute positively to communities in need while developing leadership skills for the future. “Being part of such a meaningful cause is something I’m really passionate about, and I can’t wait to get involved,” she says.
