Andover Trees is inviting residents of all ages to get involved in its next Community Conservation Day, taking place on Saturday 14 March.

The monthly event, held on the second Saturday of each month, gives local people the chance to take part in practical woodland and orchard care while helping support one of the town’s growing green spaces.
The March session will focus on seasonal woodland management and orchard maintenance, helping young trees establish strong roots ahead of the growing season. Activities are expected to include mulching, clearing around tree bases, light maintenance work and other general conservation tasks, all guided by the Andover Trees team.
Alongside regular Monday morning volunteer sessions, the Saturday events are designed to make it easier for those who work or study during the week to take part.
Abbey Sadler, Community Engagement Officer for Andover Trees, said the days are about more than just practical work.
“Our monthly conservation days are about more than woodland management – they’re about bringing people together. Every hour volunteered helps protect and nurture this space for future generations. It’s a chance to connect with nature, meet others in the community and see first-hand the difference collective action can make.”
The woodland was created to enhance biodiversity, support wellbeing and provide long-term environmental benefits for Andover. Continued community involvement plays a key role in helping the site thrive.
No prior experience is required, and volunteers are simply asked to wear suitable outdoor clothing. Tasks are designed to suit a wide range of ages and abilities, making the event ideal for families, individuals and community groups.
Each session also includes time for volunteers to take a break together over tea and conversation.
The March Community Conservation Day runs from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 14 March.
Those interested in taking part are encouraged to sign up in advance. More information about recent activities can be found on the Andover Trees “Digging It” blog.
