Andover Weather: Heatwave Hits with Highs Over 30°C

Andover is set for an intense spell of hot weather over the next few days, with temperatures likely to reach or exceed 31–32°C on Monday and Tuesday. According to the Met Office, this will be the hottest period so far this summer and could lead to tropical nights, when overnight temperatures remain above 20°C.

Coming Week: Heatwave Peaks Then Gradual Cool Down

  • Monday 30 June: Sunny and very hot throughout the day, temperatures peaking around 31–32°C by mid-afternoon.
  • Tuesday 1 July: Another exceptionally warm day, highs again reaching 32°C.
  • Wednesday 2 July: Still warm but cooler than earlier in the week, highs around 27°C with some cloud cover possible.
  • Thursday 3 July: Further cooling, highs around 25°C with a slight chance of showers.
  • Friday 4 July onwards: Temperatures dipping back into the low 20s, more cloud and occasional rain possible.

Rest of the July: What to Expect

While forecasts this far ahead can change, the long-range outlook suggests:

  • Into mid-July, the UK could see more changeable conditions, with showers and occasional thundery outbreaks mixed with brighter spells.
  • The southeast (including Hampshire) stands the best chance of warmer, drier interludes lasting a few days at a time.
  • Towards the end of the month, higher-than-average temperatures remain possible, bringing short periods of very warm or hot weather.

Staying Safe in the Heat

High temperatures can be dangerous, especially for older people, young children, and those with health conditions. Here are some simple tips to stay safe:

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Avoid the Hottest Part of the Day: Try to stay indoors or in the shade between 11am and 3pm.
  • Keep Your Home Cool: Close curtains on rooms that face the sun and open windows when it’s cooler outside.
  • Look Out for Others: Check in on elderly neighbours or anyone who may be struggling.
  • Never Leave Anyone in a Parked Car: Even with the windows open, vehicles can become dangerously hot very quickly.
