Appeal for Information After High-Speed Police Incident Near Andover

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a dangerous driving incident that began on major roads in Hampshire before ending in Whitchurch on Saturday evening.

Between 7.15pm and 8.10pm on Saturday 13 June, a silver Volkswagen Urban Fox was reportedly driven in a dangerous manner along the A31 and M27.

According to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, the driver failed to stop when requested by police and continued travelling at excessive speeds. Officers say the vehicle was also seen driving on the wrong side of the road along the A303 near Weyhill, heading towards Andover.

The pursuit came to an end a short time later in Whitchurch, where the vehicle was stopped by police.

An 18-year-old man from Whitchurch was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and drink driving. He has since been released on bail until 19 June while enquiries continue.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle being driven in the A303 corridor or around Andover town centre during the incident.

Police are particularly interested in obtaining any dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 101, quoting reference number 44260280146.
