Appeal for Public’s Help After Teen Robbed in Broad Daylight

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was robbed in Andover on Tuesday evening (23 April).

The incident took place at around 6pm near the war memorial cenotaph at St Mary’s Church. The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was sitting on a bench when he was approached by two men who made threats of violence and demanded he hand over his belongings. A quantity of cash was stolen during the encounter.

Police have released descriptions of the suspects in the hope that members of the public may be able to assist with the investigation.

The first suspect is described as a white man, around 25 years old and approximately 5ft 11ins tall. He was wearing a blue and grey shell tracksuit and a black motorbike helmet.

The second suspect is described as a mixed-race man, around 6ft 2ins tall with a slim build. He had short black hair with a fringe, a diamond earring in his left ear, and was dressed in a black Trapstar tracksuit. He was also carrying an Adidas drawstring bag.

Police have carried out a number of enquiries but are now urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time, or who recognises the descriptions of the suspects, to come forward.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“We’re appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of St Mary’s Church around the time of the incident. Even if you saw two individuals matching these descriptions elsewhere in Andover yesterday, that information could be vital to our investigation.”
