Brave the Shave Smashes Fundraising Goal at Andover Golf Club

Saturday’s “Brave the Shave” event at Andover Golf Club proved to be a resounding success, with a huge turnout and incredible generosity shown by everyone who attended.

Organised in support of the Nick Jonas Chemotherapy Unit at Winchester Hospital, the event saw Vice-Captain Mark Thorne, Club President Mark Gates, and fellow club members including Danny Goddard, Lee “The Tree”, Ryan Tilly, and Mark Brooker bravely go under the clippers. The afternoon also included music, raffles, a sponsored silence by Carole Winterbone, and plenty of community spirit.

The initiative was especially meaningful for Mark Thorne and Danny Goddard, whose sister and mother respectively are currently receiving treatment at the Nick Jonas Unit. The event was a heartfelt show of solidarity and thanks to the unit’s staff and services.

As of now, the JustGiving page set up for the Nick Jonas Unit has raised a fantastic £3,514.

In addition, a further £1,177 was raised through the raffle and donation tins on the day. At the request of Di Goddard, these funds will be split between Crohn’s & Colitis UK and Naomi House & Jacksplace, two charities close to her heart.

“We had fantastic support on Saturday at Andover Golf Club, thank you everyone that came and donated” said the Mark Thorne, Andover Golf Club Captain. “We are overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness, generosity, and encouragement—it truly means the world.”

The event not only exceeded fundraising expectations, but it also brought the community together in an emotional and uplifting afternoon that will be remembered for a long time to come.
