The iconic train was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works to a design by H.N. Gresley. It was the first locomotive in the UK to officially reach 100mph.

The locomotive was employed on long-distance express trains on the London and North Eastern Railway and was named after the passenger service from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh Waverley on the east coast mainline.

On a special trip organised by Steam Dreams, the train will pass through Andover to make a platformed appearance at Salisbury, residing at the railway station while passengers explore the cathedral city.

Anyone looking to spot the locomotive are reminded not to trespass or crowd at stations.
