Community Invited to Celebrate Final Year of Tree Planting at Bury Hill Meadows

Residents across Upper Clatford, Goodworth Clatford, Anna Valley, and Abbotts Ann are being invited to join Andover Trees United for a special Community Tree Planting Day on Saturday, 22 November 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at Bury Hill Meadows Nature Reserve.

The event marks the culmination of a four-year project transforming former farmland into a thriving young woodland, with the final planting season celebrating the thousands of trees and hedgerows already established through the efforts of local schools, volunteers, and community groups.

The Community Planting Day forms part of Andover Trees United’s wider Harmony Woods initiative – a ten-year vision to rewild and enrich local landscapes through collaboration and education.

Since 2021, the Bury Hill Meadows project has seen hundreds of children, teachers, and volunteers take part in planting native species and creating wildlife-friendly habitats. This final year brings together the Schools’ Tree Planting Season (10–28 November) and the community event, giving residents the chance to contribute to the finishing touches of this major local conservation effort.

The day is open to all ages and abilities, with tools, materials, and refreshments provided. Volunteers will help plant native trees including oak, birch, hawthorn, and field maple. Attendees are encouraged to wear suitable clothing, bring gardening gloves, and use sturdy footwear. Parking is limited, so walking, cycling, or car-sharing is advised.

Abbey Sadler, Project Coordinator for Andover Trees United, said:

“This day is a celebration of what our community can achieve together. Every tree planted is a step toward a healthier, greener Andover – and it’s a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and neighbours to take part in something meaningful.

“Seeing young people nurture the environment over the past four years has been inspiring, and this final planting season is a chance to leave a living legacy for future generations.”

Wendy Davis, Founder of Andover Trees United, added:

“The transformation of Bury Hill Meadows is a testament to community-led conservation. From schoolchildren to local volunteers, everyone has played a part in creating a greener, more sustainable town. This final year is not only a celebration of what we’ve achieved but also a springboard for future projects across the Test Valley area.”
