Community leaders and residents in Augusta Park have raised concerns following repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour around the Augusta Park Community Centre this week.

Reports shared by the centre suggest that a group of teenage boys has been gathering outside the building during the evenings, causing disturbances, damaging property, and intimidating users of the facility.
According to staff and witnesses, the incidents have taken place around 7–8pm on consecutive nights, involving loud noise, vandalism, and disruptive behaviour inside and outside the building.
One report described how the group “were banging and crashing in the toilets, shouting, and acting in an intimidating way,” while another noted that “some of them came back the next evening, threw something at the fire doors, and were smoking weed and being verbally abusive.”
The incidents have been reported to police, and centre staff are urging parents to speak with their children if they believe they may have been present at the site during these times.
A spokesperson for the community centre said:
“We really want to keep the centre safe and welcoming for everyone. This is a valued space for residents, clubs, and community events – it’s important that everyone treats it with respect.”
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“I can confirm we have received reports of anti-social behaviour at the Augusta Park Community Centre between the 27 and 29 October. It has been reported that a group of boys have attended and caused disruption, including banging on windows and leaving toilets in a mess. On all occasions calls have come in after the boys have left.”
They also confirmed that patrol activity and the incidents will reviewed.
