Some schools are extending the Monday morning registration period till 10 am, allowing children to come in late following Euro 2020 final.
Headteacher at Endeavour Primary School, Andover, Helen Palmer, announced via Facebook that the school gates would stay open until 9.55 am allowing children to be dropped off anytime before the 10am cut-off. She said, “We have extended registration to support parents in allowing their children to sleep in a little longer if they have been up late the night before enjoying the match.”
Not all schools have taken this approach to the game , Knights Enham sent out a very short to the point text to their parents, saying registration as normal on Monday
You would have received communication from your chidren’s school on where they stand on this on Friday afternoon/ evening . If you have heard nothing it’s likely that your childs school is statrting at the normal time on Monday. Check your child’s school parents page or schools regular way of communication with parents if you aren’t sure.

“Whilst I’m all for allowing children an extra hour in bed , I feel for the kids who’s parents still need to attend work as normal. It’s slightly unfair on the pupils who don’t have a choice but to get up early and attend school at the usual time.“
“We’re supposed to be preparing kids for life in the real world, this isn’t how it works and sends completely the wrong message.“
“This does not set a good example to children of the importance of timekeeping, rest, and that seeming even education comes second to watching a bunch of guys kicking a ball around.“
“Personally I’d give the kids the day off, just to show them that this is a piece of history and have the Monday to reflect on what we witnessed(hopefully a win) the people who say it’s kicking a ball about blah blah are clearly cricket fans or just crap at sports. I say fair play endeavour and hopefully all schools will follow suit”
“So it’s not okay to make reasonable adjustments in education for many children with SEND on a daily basis thereby discriminating against them making their lives unbearable, but it’s okay to flex the rules for everyone to have a jolly.“

“Honestly I think it’s good. Even though I’m not a football fan, a lot of families create memories around the football, being involved in it means that the kids finally get to have a good time after such a rubbish year. It is great for their mental health and allowing them to have a lie in means they are still able to have their day of school without needing the full day off! This shows the school cares.“

“I think the football has created a community spirit and some much needed excitement (this is coming from someone who normally avoids football). Starting school an hour late will not harm them at all but showing them that life can be fun and unexpected treats do turn up now and then is a positive“
