Families Celebrate Easter the Natural Way at Harmony Woods

Dozens of families enjoyed an Easter celebration with a difference this year, as Harmony Woods hosted a nature-inspired morning of crafts, games and togetherness during the school holidays.

Under the canopy of budding trees and spring sunshine, young “Eggsplorers” gathered to take part in the ever-popular Traditional Easter Egg Decorating Workshop, led by local artist Jolanta Rolt.

Using spring flowers, fresh leaves and foraged plants from the woods, children carefully created delicate patterns on their eggs. These were then wrapped in onion skins and simmered in a rich, natural dye made from red cabbage—producing beautiful, one-of-a-kind marbled designs in deep purples, greens, and golds.

Jolanta said:

“The process is all about patience and creativity.”These methods have been passed down through generations in Lithuania, and, as a tradition the British people have lost over the years, it’s so special to see them embraced here in Harmony Woods.”

While the eggs were cooking, the excitement continued with a chocolate-filled Easter Egg Hunt, delightfully led by local favourites Matt, Natalia, and Hebe. Children dashed between logs and leaves to find hidden surprises, with squeals of joy echoing through the woodland.

The trio also ran a series of nature-themed games, from bunny hop story adventures to activities celebrating woodland birds—keeping both kids and adults entertained while celebrating the magic of spring.

The morning ended with a sweet treat, as families came together to enjoy freshly baked hot cross buns, sharing stories and admiring the egg-cellent creations they’d made together.

Wendy Davis, Trustee at Andover Trees United, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make today so special. Harmony Woods is all about bringing people together in nature, and today really captured that spirit.”

From meaningful craft to chocolatey cheer, the Easter event proved that tradition, nature, and creativity are the perfect ingredients for magical memories.
