Families in Andover who care for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being invited to attend a dedicated support event later this month, designed to make accessing help and advice easier.
Hampshire County Council is bringing its new ‘Local Offer Discovery Days’ roadshow to Andover Community Church on Thursday 26 March, from 2pm to 6pm, offering local families a chance to explore the wide range of SEND services available in their area.
The event aims to provide a relaxed and welcoming space where parents and carers can speak directly with professionals from across education, health, social care, and the voluntary sector. Families attending will be able to access guidance, ask questions, and gain a clearer understanding of the support available to them and their children.
As part of the session, visitors can also take part in workshops, receive general advice, and hear about new and upcoming services designed to support children and young people with SEND in Hampshire.
The Discovery Day forms part of Hampshire County Council’s wider effort to bring its ‘Local Offer’ directly into communities, helping families better navigate what can often feel like a complex and overwhelming system.
Councillor Roz Chadd, Cabinet Lead Member for Children’s Services, said the events are designed to ensure families can easily access the help they need. She highlighted that while a wide range of support exists, understanding and navigating it can be challenging, and these in-person events aim to bridge that gap by connecting families with professionals face-to-face.
For Andover families, the upcoming event presents a valuable opportunity to gather information, ask questions, and connect with services—all in one place and within their local community.
