David Mellor Family Jewellers has raised more than £15,000 for Mountbatten Hampshire following the success of its second annual Charity Golf Day.

The latest fundraiser follows the success of the family’s inaugural charity golf day, held at Stoneham Golf Club last summer, which raised an impressive £13,073 for the Hampshire-based charity. The event was established in memory of David Mellor, founder of the family-run jewellers, and has quickly become a meaningful way of honouring his legacy while supporting a cause that is close to the family’s heart.
This year’s Golf Day, held at Stoneham Golf Club at the end of May, brought together 19 teams of customers, local businesses, friends and supporters for a day of golf, fundraising and community spirit. Together, they raised an outstanding £15,417.65, taking the total raised across the two events to more than £28,000.
The Charity Golf Day was created in memory of David Mellor, whose generosity, compassion and dedication to the local community continue to inspire the business almost 50 years after it was founded.
Amy Mellor, Director at David Mellor Jewellers, said the family had been overwhelmed by the support received from the local community.
She said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity shown by everyone who supported this year’s Golf Day. From the teams who entered and our incredible sponsors, to those who donated raffle prizes, auction lots and gave their time to help make the day happen – every single person played a part in raising this fantastic amount for Mountbatten Hampshire.
“The charity provided outstanding care and support to our dad, David, and to our family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. Organising this event is our way of giving something back whilst continuing Dad’s legacy of supporting the local community that meant so much to him.”

Throughout the day, participants took part in a range of fundraising activities including a charity raffle, live auction, Beat the Pro challenge and a variety of on-course competitions. Businesses from across Hampshire also donated prizes and auction lots to help maximise the fundraising effort.
David Mellor Family Jewellers thanked everyone who helped make the event possible, including headline sponsors Pangea Insurance and Lewis Brownlee, Stoneham Golf Club for hosting the event, volunteers who gave their time, and every golfer who took part.
The money raised will go directly to Mountbatten Hampshire, helping the charity continue to provide expert end-of-life care, bereavement support and compassionate services for patients and their families across the region.
The successful fundraiser comes as David Mellor Family Jewellers prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary later this summer. The business said the continued success of the Charity Golf Day reflects one of David Mellor’s founding values of giving back to the community that has supported the family business for generations.
Following another successful year, the family hopes to make the Charity Golf Day an annual fixture, continuing to raise vital funds for Mountbatten Hampshire while bringing together local businesses and the wider community for an important cause.
