Pupils from Knights Enham Junior School and Harrow Way Community School came together this week for a memorable afternoon in Diamond Woods – also known as Harmony Woods – as part of this year’s Great Big Green Week.

The event, organised in collaboration with Andover Trees United, celebrated both sustainability and community spirit. Students from both schools were mixed into teams, united by a common goal: to take positive action for the environment.
The day began with a purposeful litter pick, helping to preserve the beauty of the woodland and reinforcing the importance of local action in addressing global environmental challenges.
After a well-earned break with fruit and cake, the students participated in group discussions exploring the question: How can we make our schools more sustainable?
What followed were inspiring presentations, with ideas ranging from installing solar panels and creating better recycling systems, to reducing waste and integrating more sustainability education into the school day.
The pupils’ energy, creativity, and sense of environmental responsibility shone through as they presented their proposals to peers and facilitators, demonstrating a clear commitment to creating a greener future for their schools and community.
