Andover New Street Youth Football Club has officially presented a cheque for £6,135.67 to the Countess of Brecknock Hospice following the success of this year’s Charity Day.

The donation represents half of the £12,217.85 raised during the annual Andover New Street Youth Charity Day, which took place at the DH Property Stadium on Saturday 25th April 2026.
Club representatives recently met with members of the hospice team to hand over the cheque, with the money set to support the hospice’s ongoing work providing palliative and end-of-life care across the local community.
The Countess of Brecknock Hospice supports more than 1,000 patients and family members every year, both at the hospice itself and in people’s homes throughout the area. Demand for its services continues to grow, with referrals to the community palliative care team increasing significantly in recent years.
Speaking following the presentation, a spokesperson for the hospice thanked Andover New Street Football Club and everyone involved in the fundraising efforts.
They said: “The Countess of Brecknock Hospice provides outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to people living with life-limiting illness, together with comfort and support for their loved ones and carers.
“Every year, the team supports over 1,000 patients and their family members, both at the hospice and in people’s homes across our community. The need for the hospice’s services is growing and the number of referrals to the community palliative care team has grown by over 60 per cent in the last five years.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Andover New Street Football Club as it means we can help more people in our community and support the teams who are extending the great work we do to enable patients and their families to have the support they need in their own home environment.”

This year’s Charity Day saw the local community come together once again in support of both the hospice and plans for new 3G pitches at the DH Property Stadium, with organisers confirming the fundraising total surpassed last year’s figure.
Held under glorious sunshine, the event attracted a strong crowd throughout the day and featured a packed schedule of football fixtures, entertainment and fundraising activities.
A major highlight was the appearance of several former professional footballers, including Premier League-winning captain Wes Morgan, ex-Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse and former Everton forward Oumar Niasse. The trio took part in the headline fixture and were warmly welcomed by spectators.
The day began with a series of youth matches showcasing the strength of grassroots football in the area. Streets Ahead Swifts faced Hamble Blue before the Streets Ahead Under-16s took on MYFC Thunderbolts. The Andover New Street Under-18s Vixens then faced AFC Stoneham Under-18 Eagles in another competitive fixture.
The main event saw the Foxes defeat the Vixens 6–2 in an entertaining contest. Goals for the Foxes came from Tom Bird, Papiss Cisse, who scored twice, Jamie Coleman with two goals, and Oumar Niasse. Rhys Mallon and Jimmy Richardson were on the scoresheet for the Vixens.
