Two miniature donkeys at a Hampshire wildlife charity have become unexpected social media stars after stealing their own birthday cake during a light-hearted celebration.
Mickey and Molly, the much-loved residents of the Hawk Conservancy Trust near Andover, were caught on camera helping themselves to their specially prepared treats during a video marking their 17th birthdays.
Animal carers Ryan and Jennie had gone to great lengths to decorate the cakes with all of the donkeys’ favourite donkey-friendly ingredients. But before they could get the perfect birthday snap, the cheeky pair took matters into their own hooves.
Despite Ryan’s comedic protests of “We’re not ready yet!”, the donkeys were already tucking in – much to the delight of online viewers. The moment was shared as a Reel on the Trust’s official Instagram account and has since attracted plenty of laughs and love from followers.
