The highly skilled team of doctors, dispatchers, pilots and paramedics were called out more than ever before, marking a 10% increase in missions compared to the previous record in July 2024.

As well as attending incidents in and around Andover, the charity’s air ambulance and critical care teams were most frequently dispatched to incidents in Basingstoke, Fareham, Newport, Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.

Among the emergencies they attended across the region were:

  • 64 assaults
  • 211 road traffic collisions
  • 257 cardiac arrests
  • Almost 100 more incidents than the same period last year

Richard Corbett, Chief Executive of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, praised the dedication of the team:

“I am immensely proud of the response from our crew members, charity team and army of volunteers who continuously rise to the challenge. Not forgetting the enormous role everyone who has supported us plays.”

Operation Airbase – A New Home For The Charity

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is also raising funds for its £3.6 million Operation Airbase appeal. The campaign will see the service relocate its airbase and headquarters to a new site near Southampton Airport, helping crews reach patients faster and continue to provide life-saving treatment across the county – including here in Andover.

The charity has been called to multiple incidents in and around Andover this summer, underlining the importance of having rapid-response air support close by when every second counts.
