Portway Junior school, Andover are due to say goodbye to long standing headteacher Mr Timothy Deery after 15 years leading the school.
Back in December Mr Deery announced that he would be leaving his teaching role to retire saying “I have been teaching since the 1980s and it is time to slow down a little” He went on to say “it has been an honour to be part of the school and it will be very hard as the end of the school year gets closer”
Last month it was confirmed by the chair of Governor’s, Esnay Burns that Miss Victoria Windross the current deputy has successfully been appointed as the new head teacher from September.
Mr Deery will be sorely missed by staff pupils and parents after being the at the heart of the Junior school’s DNA for over a decade.
Victoria said “I am very much looking forward to leading the Portway team and continuing to ensure our children get the very best experience of their primary school years. However, Mr Deery will be a tough act to follow.”
