Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £750 Business Incentive Grant to The Lodge Florist, a charming floral business based at Houghton Lodge.

Run by local entrepreneur Victoria Smith, The Lodge Florist has flourished thanks to its unique setting alongside other small businesses – including a hairdresser, a coffee shop, and the popular Houghton Lodge Gardens. The result is a hub where visitors can enjoy a full experience, from exploring the gardens to picking up fresh blooms and enjoying a cuppa.
Victoria, who provides seasonal flower arrangements for the tearoom, also carefully coordinates her stock to reflect the changing displays in the gardens. She operates from a large outdoor covered area with a smaller indoor space for less-than-perfect weather.
The grant will allow Victoria to invest in pedestals for wedding flowers, helping her to grow her wedding service in the coming months.
Cllr Ian Jeffrey, Mid Test Ward, commented:
“The Lodge Florist is a fantastic addition to Houghton Lodge, and we are pleased to support its growth through this grant. The business incentive grants are a great opportunity to help get new businesses up and running in Test Valley.”
Victoria added:
“I am incredibly grateful for the support from Test Valley Borough Council. This grant will allow me to enhance my offerings and expand my wedding flower service this year.”
The Business Incentive Grant supports new businesses that have been trading for at least six months. Applications must be made within eight weeks of starting to trade.
