Finding secure housing remains a growing challenge in Andover, with many residents spending long periods on the social housing register while waiting for a suitable home.

RJ Gallagher Property & Lettings has launched a local initiative aimed at helping bridge that gap by working closely with Test Valley Borough Council, local landlords and the wider community to support residents into private rented accommodation.
The project focuses on helping people already on the council housing list access suitable private tenancies more quickly. Where needed, the business also uses its own properties to provide short-term accommodation, giving individuals and families a safe place to stay while longer-term housing is arranged.
Support is offered throughout the process – from identifying appropriate homes and helping residents navigate applications, to working with landlords to ensure tenancies are well managed and sustainable. The approach helps reduce pressure on temporary accommodation while giving residents a clearer pathway towards stable, independent living.
Sabrina Gallagher, who runs RJ Gallagher Property & Lettings, said the idea came from seeing first-hand how difficult it can be for people to move forward while waiting for social housing.
“Finding secure housing in Andover can take a long time, and we wanted to do something practical to help.
“By working alongside the council and local landlords, we’re able to help people move into homes more quickly and support them properly along the way. Josh does all the less glamorous jobs behind the scenes, and together we’re proud to be doing something that genuinely helps our community.”
By combining local knowledge, private housing options and close collaboration with the council, RJ Gallagher Property & Lettings says the project is about offering real, workable solutions — helping residents move into secure homes while strengthening Andover’s wider housing network.
