A local mental health charity is set to launch a new community wellbeing initiative in the New Year.
Kick Start FC has announced that its first Walk & Talk group will take place on Saturday 10 January 2026, offering people the chance to enjoy gentle exercise, fresh air and friendly conversation in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
The walk will begin at 10:00am, meeting at Ludgershall Public Car Park, with the route to be confirmed closer to the date. The initiative is open to everyone, whether they are attending for the social connection, the physical movement, or simply to take a moment to reset and focus on their wellbeing. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear and bring along anyone who may benefit from joining in. Attendees are kindly asked not to bring pets.
The Walk & Talk group forms part of Kick Start FCās wider mission to reduce social isolation and promote positive mental health across Tidworth and surrounding areas. Established in 2020, the charity supports individuals experiencing mental health challenges through the power of sport, particularly football therapy, providing a safe and inclusive environment for both men and women.
With around one in four people in the UK affected by a mental health issue each year, the charity highlights the growing need for accessible and stigma-free support. Persistent stigma continues to prevent many people from seeking help, often leading to feelings of fear, shame and isolation.
Kick Start FC believes in tackling mental health through sport and shared activity. By encouraging connection, resilience and peer support, its programmes aim to empower individuals with practical tools to manage their mental wellbeing. The charity also stresses the importance of early intervention, noting that timely support can significantly improve outcomes, prevent issues from escalating and reduce the risk of additional challenges such as substance misuse.
Those interested in attending the Walk & Talk group are encouraged to let the charity know in advance, as Kick Start FC says it would love to see as many people as possible taking part in this new community-focused initiative.
