New Principal Set to Lead Next Chapter at Lift Winton

A Hampshire academy is preparing to welcome a new principal as it looks ahead to its next phase of development.

Lift Winton, part of Lift Schools, has announced that Myles Preston will take up the role next week, bringing with him a strong track record in education leadership.

Mr Preston began his professional career in law before moving into the education sector. He has since held roles in several high-performing schools in London, including Harris Invictus and Ark Blake, and most recently worked at Barnwood Park School in Gloucestershire.

Alongside his professional achievements, Mr Preston is also a keen runner who regularly takes part in marathons.

In the lead-up to his official start date, Mr Preston has already spent time at the school meeting staff and students and familiarising himself with the site.

Speaking about his appointment, he said: “I have had numerous opportunities over the last few weeks to see the school in action and I have been made to feel really welcome by the school community.

“My vision for the school is a simple one, for all students to achieve success and thrive, and to be safe, happy and ready for their next steps. It is a privilege to lead a school like Winton and I am looking forward to meeting the community.”

Karl Sampson, Regional Education Director for Lift Schools, welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in the school’s future.

He said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Mr Preston to the school community. I am absolutely certain that the school will continue to go from strength to strength under Mr Preston’s leadership.”

Mr Preston is set to host a ‘meet the principal’ session with families after the Easter break. He will also be in contact with pupils due to join Year 7 in September 2026 and has said he is looking forward to welcoming new families into the Winton community.
