NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight is encouraging people across the area to make the right choices when accessing healthcare this Spring Bank Holiday (Monday 26 May 2025).

With hospitals expected to be particularly busy, local residents are being reminded to plan ahead, know their options, and use the most appropriate NHS service to get the care they need.
Pharmacy Opening Times – Andover
Three pharmacies in Andover will be open from 10am to 4pm on Monday 26 May:

Pharmacy First – A Convenient First Step
Under the Pharmacy First scheme, community pharmacies can now offer treatment and advice for a growing number of minor conditions — without the need to see a GP. These include:
- Sore throats
- Earaches
- Shingles
- Sinusitis
- Insect bites
- Impetigo
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Pharmacists can also issue prescriptions where appropriate, providing a quick and easy alternative to GP appointments or emergency visits.

If you’re unsure where to turn, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 to be directed to the right service. The Healthier Together app is also a great tool for families needing advice on childhood symptoms and illnesses.
For Urgent Care
If your concern is not life-threatening, you can visit an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) – including the one in Andover – which is often quicker than visiting A&E.
