Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a dramatic incident involving a speeding car, a fire, and a foot chase through Andover late on Thursday night.
At around 11pm on 5 June, a black Subaru Forester was spotted by officers on patrol along Walworth Road. The vehicle sped away on sight of the police car, but it wasn’t long before officers noticed the Subaru slowing down, with smoke and then flames coming from underneath the vehicle.
The car’s occupants quickly abandoned the Subaru and fled on foot, leaving the vehicle to roll on uncontrolled. It eventually collided with a parked car and a garden fence on Vigo Road.
Firefighters were called to extinguish the flames, and the car was later seized by police. No injuries were reported.
Police are now investigating the incident and are keen to speak with anyone who saw what happened or may have captured footage. In particular, they are appealing for CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the following roads between 11pm and midnight on Thursday 5 June:

- Vigo Road
- Silkweavers Road
- New Street
- Recreation Road
- Bachelors Barn Road
- St Johns Road
- Wool Grove
