By Marie Ponting

Firstly a big apology to you all, having read back through last months write up I realised I had hurried through it and not given you all much detail. I had also forgotten to mention the full moon Hunters moon was on 27th/28th October!

September did fly past with Autumn Equinox and Mabon. I remember explaining to a friend of mine that I felt like I was in a tumble dryer going round and round. So important to recognise this in ourselves and then ground, bring ourselves back to ourselves and be present. This is a practice that has taken me years to do and I find I still have to remind myself. How do I ground myself? Mindfulness, letting go of the past, I can’t change that, not looking at the future I’m not there yet, but bringing the focus back to me, back to my soul. Walking helps me to ground, using my senses, what can I taste, what can I hear, smell, touch and see. I like to watch an ants nest – why? Because at first glance there seems to be not much going on, but when you take a closer look its all going on. All the ants working to get jobs done, try it, it’s fascinating. I always find answers in nature when I take the time to look.

Samhain, what is it? It’s a time in the wheel of the year where we celebrate our ancestors, those that have been before us, what they experienced, what they have taught us, when the veil thins between the realms and spirit are closer than usual. A time for honouring history. It seems ‘Halloween’ people know more about and celebrate it, but why do people celebrate it, do they know what they are celebrating? It’s the one time in the year where witches are deemed to be ok to be celebrated, I was having a conversation with someone the other day about magic, they asked me if I believe in black magic, my answer is no as that comes from a place of hurt and anger, what are your thoughts on this? This conversation also led to a conversation about witches being healers which I believe to be true.

I love having people around me that I can have these deep conversations with, make me question myself and beliefs, that’s where the growth is – right? I finished the conversation with this quote ‘Why are we taught to fear witches, and not the people that burned/drowned them?’ New moon this month is 12th November with full moon on 27th

Have a blessed November.
