With less than two weeks to go until Alabaré’s first-ever 10K Speedway and Colour Dash event, the charity has announced that endurance athlete, author, and reality TV star Nick Butter will be joining the line-up.

Nick, who reached the semi-finals of the BBC’s Destination X and became the first person to run a marathon in every country in the world, will take part in the 10K Speedway at Thruxton Circuit on Saturday 13 September.
Known as Britain’s fastest racetrack, Thruxton will host the three-lap, chip-timed 10K challenge for serious runners – with Nick Butter set to join them on the start line.
Following the 10K, families and fun-seekers can take part in the Colour Dash, a disco-themed run, jog, wheel, or walk around one lap of the circuit. Expect high-energy music, powdered paint stations, and even a foam-filled finish.
Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s Principal Lead for Events, said:
“We are so pleased to have Nick Butter joining us for the 10K Speedway and Colour Dash at Thruxton later this month. The day promises to be a really powerful moment of compassion and solidarity with people experiencing homelessness, while also bringing plenty of fun, at a hugely popular venue.
“After his appearance on one of TV’s biggest new shows, we are grateful that he is taking the time out of his schedule to support us in ending homelessness.”
The day is more than just about fitness and fun – it’s about raising vital funds. Every step taken will help Alabaré support more than 3,200 vulnerable and marginalised people across the South West and Wales each year, providing housing, mental health support, and opportunities to rebuild lives.
Event Highlights:
- 10K Speedway – three laps of Thruxton Circuit, chipped and timed.
- Colour Dash – a family-friendly, disco-themed run with paint stations and foam finish.
- Special guest Nick Butter – world-record-breaking endurance runner and TV personality.
- Fundraising impact – supporting adults, young people, veterans, and those facing homelessness or mental health struggles.
