Gemini Netball Club continues to go from strength to strength, marking the end of a fantastic season with their end of season celebration held on Sunday 29th June.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, including Valley Gas Speed Shop, KCN Home Improvements, Paws Out & About Dog Walking Services, and Bourne Valley Accounting Services.
Now in its fifth season, Gemini has seen impressive growth, expanding to 10 teams across a range of age groups. This year saw three of their teams step up into the competitive Hampshire Leagues (U12, U13, and U14), while five teams competed in the Salisbury Leagues (U10 to U15), and two teams played in the Andover Summer Leagues (U14 and U15).
Tournament participation has also been a key part of the club’s calendar, with teams travelling to compete in events held in Salisbury, Amesbury, and Bournemouth. In addition to their competitive success, Gemini runs a thriving Bee Netball section for children aged U8 to U11, offering primary school children a chance to build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the social benefits of team sport.
Several of Gemini’s top athletes have made significant progress this season, with six players earning places in the prestigious Wiltshire County programme. A further four players have advanced to performance-level clubs and academies, reflecting the club’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing pathways for progression.
Development is central to Gemini’s ethos. The club now boasts five qualified coaches and five qualified umpires, with a number of others currently training and receiving support from the club as they progress in their officiating and coaching journeys. Their Young Volunteer programme has also flourished, with 14 girls aged 12 to 15 completing awards while gaining valuable leadership and communication skills.
As they look ahead to next season, Gemini Netball Club remains dedicated to providing opportunities for players of all levels to grow, achieve, and enjoy the game.
