A local charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse is teaming up with Test Valley Borough Council to offer a free, in-person training session aimed at businesses across the region.
Finding Freedom From Abuse, a charity based in the Test Valley, provides refuge, outreach support, and recovery programmes to individuals affected by domestic abuse. The organisation operates a large refuge and several safe properties for those who have had to flee abusive situations, as well as an outreach team working with survivors who remain in the area. In addition, the charity facilitates group programmes for both men and women looking to rebuild their lives in a safe and positive way.
The upcoming DOVE Champion Training is designed for businesses whose staff may receive disclosures of domestic abuse—whether from clients, customers or colleagues—and who may be unsure how to respond appropriately or what support services are available.
The training will take place on Friday 6th June, from 9.00am to 12.00pm, at The Guildhall, Andover. The event is open to all businesses within the Test Valley, and aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to listen, respond sensitively, and signpost those in need to the right support services.

“We want to create a whole borough of domestic abuse champions. This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to meet us, learn more about the services we offer, and understand how they can play a role in supporting survivors.”
Businesses interested in attending are asked to RSVP via email to secure their place on the guest list. As the charity does not hold a full directory of local businesses, organisers are encouraging attendees to spread the word to others in the area who may benefit from the training. Sharing the event through newsletters, social media channels, or during team meetings would also be greatly appreciated.
