The Guide – Live Music This Bank Holiday Weekend

As the August Bank Holiday approaches, pubs and venues across Andover and the surrounding villages are preparing for one of the busiest weekends of the year. With a packed schedule of live music ranging from laid-back blues to all-night festivals, it’s clear that pubs remain at the heart of the local community.

But beyond the entertainment, these venues need the community’s backing more than ever. Rising costs, changing habits, and increasing pressures mean that many pubs are working harder than ever to keep their doors open. Choosing to spend a night out at your local isn’t just about enjoying a pint or catching a band—it’s about supporting the people, staff, and performers who make the area such a vibrant place to live.

Local pubs like the Foresters Arms, The Angel Inn, and The George are putting on incredible line-ups this weekend, showcasing not only home-grown talent but also creating spaces where neighbours and friends can come together. Add to this the community fundraising efforts at Andover Central Club and special events such as the Freddie Mercury Tribute and the Open Mic Party Day, and it’s easy to see how much value these venues bring to the town.

By turning up, sharing events, and encouraging others to do the same, residents can play a vital part in keeping live music alive and helping local pubs thrive. Every ticket bought, every drink ordered, and every cheer for a band goes directly towards sustaining venues that continue to invest in entertainment and community spirit.

So while this Bank Holiday is bursting with live music options, it’s also a reminder: supporting your local pub is about more than one night out—it’s about keeping the community alive for the future.
