Thruxton Retro Gives Drivers the Chance to Experience Drag Racing

Motorsport enthusiasts will have the chance to experience the thrill of drag racing first-hand when Thruxton Retro returns from 3rd to 5th July, with organisers introducing an exciting new attraction to the popular event.

For the first time ever, part of Thruxton’s famous runway will be transformed into an eighth-mile drag strip, giving visitors the opportunity to race their own vehicles in a controlled and professionally managed environment.

Open to all vehicles, the new drag racing experience allows participants to line up against friends and fellow enthusiasts before launching down the strip in pursuit of the fastest time. Each entry costs £30 per car and includes three runs, a personalised timing sheet and a NORA licence.

As well as the chance to enjoy some friendly competition, awards will be presented to the drivers recording the fastest times over the weekend.

The action won’t be limited to road cars either. Spectators can also look forward to watching dedicated drag racing machines take to the strip, promising plenty of noise, speed and tyre smoke throughout the event.

Organisers say the new feature adds another exciting dimension to Thruxton Retro, which has become a favourite among classic car fans, motorsport enthusiasts and families looking for a weekend packed with automotive entertainment.

With a mix of retro vehicles, motorsport displays, live entertainment and now drag racing, this year’s event is set to be one of the most exciting yet.

Drivers interested in taking part can book their place online, while spectators can enjoy the spectacle from the sidelines as competitors battle for bragging rights and the quickest times of the weekend.

Thruxton Retro takes place from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July at Thruxton Circuit.
