Thruxton Retro Returns This July for a Weekend of Racing, Music and 80s Nostalgia

Thruxton Retro returns from 3 – 5 July as a full-throttle celebration of speed, style and 80s nostalgia, transforming the UK’s fastest race circuit into something far bigger than a traditional motorsport weekend. While racing sits at its core, the event is designed to reach well beyond dedicated petrolheads, blending track action with live music, food and festival entertainment.

The appeal is intentionally broad, making it as much a summer day out as a racing event. Alongside historic and retro racing, visitors can expect an 80s-inspired festival atmosphere with tribute acts, DJs and live performances. It creates a setting where motorsport is just one part of the experience, and where you don’t need to follow the racing to enjoy the day.

Rather than being a single-day visit, Thruxton Retro is built around the idea of a full weekend experience. The atmosphere shifts across the three days, with different highlights from on-track action to evening entertainment, encouraging visitors to stay and take everything in rather than just drop in for a few hours.

Camping on site adds to that festival feel, turning the event into more of a short summer break than a quick trip to the circuit. It extends the experience beyond race sessions, with the weekend continuing into the evenings and creating a more relaxed, social atmosphere throughout.

Between track action, the circuit comes alive with food stalls, bars and family-friendly attractions. Classic car displays and club stands add another layer of interest, giving visitors plenty to explore even when the engines aren’t running.

Thruxton Retro is about combining heritage motorsport with a laid-back festival environment. Whether visitors come for the racing, the music, the nostalgia or simply the atmosphere, it’s an event designed to be enjoyed by the entire family.
